Overview
Become the richest innkeeper of the land
The round is divided into 3 phases:
Welcome Phase
Action Phase
Morning Phase
Welcome Phase
The first player for the round draws guest cards one at a time and places them in an unlocked unoccupied room of their choice
Action Phase
In turn order, each player takes 1 action until everyone has taken 2 actions
The actions are:
Bribe
Build
Kill
Bury
Pass
The basics of all actions (Aside from Pass) are as follows:
Choose a guest
Play a number of additional cards defined by the rank of the chosen guest (0-3 on lower left)
From all these cards, reclaim all which show the aptitude for the action (Symbol on their name banner)
Those not selected are placed into either the Exit stack or the Bistro (Peasants) as appropriate
Finally, perform the action itself
The actions in detail:
Bribe (Money Aptitude)
The chosen guest must reside either in an inn room or the Bistro
In addition to those with Aptitude, the originally selected guest is also added to your hand (if it didn't already have Aptitude)
If you bribed the peasants, you may take 2 instead of 1
Build (Shovel Aptitude)
The chosen guest must reside in your hand and contain an Annex (house symbol) on the lower left
Place them living side up in front of you
Each Annex has a special effect which will trigger upon building it
Kill (Gun Aptitude)
The chosen guest must reside either in an inn room or the Bistro
Place them dead side up in front of you (They are a corpse, but not yet buried, so could pose a risk)
Bury (Coffin Aptitude)
The chosen guest must reside in front of you dead side up
Place the chosen guest under a previously built Annex, yours or someone else's, whilst still being able to see their value
Each Annex can hold a number of dead guests equal to its rank (e.g. a rank 2 Annex can hold 2 bodies, but make sure both values are viewable)
A rank 0 Annex can therefore NOT hold a dead guest
Upon burial, the value of the guest is halved and half goes to you and half goes to the owner of the Annex (which may also be you)
You cannot exceed the 40 money total from this
Pass (No Aptitude)
This doesn't follow the normal action structure, and instead takes the following route:
You may exchange Cash for Cheques or Cheques for Cash in denominations of 10 only
Cheques have no limit, whilst Cash is limited to the 40 shown on the board
Morning Phase
This phase is divided into the following three steps:
Police
Departure
Wages
On the Police step, if there is a police officer in one of the rooms, any player with a corpse (unburied dead guest) must discard it and pay 10 money (Cash OR Cheque). If you have more than one unburied corpse, you must do this for each one, i.e. 2 unburied corpses would cost 20 money and you'd lose both. If you cannot afford the total sum, pay to 0 then the rest is ignored
On the Departure step, earn 1 money for guests still in the rooms you own, then all the guests get moved to the Exit stack
On the Wages step, pay 1 money for each card in your hand, these ONLY accept Cash. If you cannot pay for all your cards, choose which unpaid ones to discard
Finally, the first player marker moves on
Game End
The game ends the second time the entrance stack empties. If the inn is able to be filled as normal, complete the final round, if you can't fill all rooms required, the game ends before that round.
Each player with an unburied corpse must pay 10 money (Cash or Cheque) and discard the guest
Check if you have any Rank 3 Annexes which earn you Cash money (Again you cannot go over 40)
The player with the most wealth (Cash + Cheques) is the winner. If there's a tie, the winner is the tied player with the most corpses buried in their annexes
