For example, if my only options are afterburner and I've already decided I'm not going to use them for the rest of this round, stopping on impulses where I don't have AP or movement only for this just delays and prolongs a turn-based game.
I can imagine this being a choice with a second "Done" button. I.e. "Done until my next active impulse" or something like that. It would reset to wait on the first impulse where I have an "earned" move or AP that doesn't require using an expendable something like a battery or afterburner. -
