IMO it would be better if discard pile positioning was below the column of players characters, because when you expand that pile now, cards cover the character and, eventually, almost all the player zone.

Rapporthistorik
Perhaps have the kraken deck splay vertically down? Or even just slightly stagger/offset so the tops of one of the card piles is still visible.
