Currently, when the market is empty, the only thing you can do is pass. Especially turnbased, the table is waiting for you, only to push the button pass. I thing it will improve the speed of the game to automatically pass (only when the market is empty, or when you cannot buy anything anymore in the market).
If you do not want this by default, maybe you can make this a game-option in the settings menu? -
