Custom CSS entered in then preferences section does not work. The content is inserted as plain text in the HTML document (no <style> tag). If I add the style tag, then the tag is encoded (and it does not work).

Same here with Firefox 74.0

It was working, until I come back on the custom css settings page (after 2 years out from bga). Then it doesn’t work anymore and the CSS display as plain text.

Same bug with Firefox 75.0. EIther CSS entered is inserted as plain text or the following error is displayed : Error while processing Database request.

I have the same issue. I enter text into the textbox and it is written to the screen, as seen in the imgur link.

I used "View Source" which opened in Chrome as view-source:boardgamearena.com/preferences?section=advanced ; the text I entered for the custom CSS is written out after the line

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="x.boardgamearena.net/data/themereleases/current/css/libraries.css?1"/>

same here. On very first save it was fine, then it broke and did as the others suggest above (writing CSS to screen)

Workaround: This bug is actually present only on the "custom CSS" page. If you save and navigate to another page AND refresh that page it will work (you have to refresh! that's what got me)

Yeah, it needs a note saying that you need to perform a manual page refresh on a page OTHER than the custom CSS page to apply the custom CSS rules...

But perhaps more worrying, if you then try to visit a bug report page (such as this one) then you receive the error:

"Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred...

You cannot access this section because you are using some custom CSS (see Preferences > Advanced)"

Further notes on workaround: You need to actually visit your *own* custom CSS link in order to set your preference for the site, e.g. boardgamearena.com/?use_custom_style=12345 -- after that, the style will be applied.

Very weird.

I just tried this: html {background-color:#FF5733;} (color is just a random one) but it didn't work so i came here but i got a error message saying that I couldn't acces here because of my custom CSS...

To get your custom CSS changes applied, you have to refresh the cache of the page.
Usually, you can do it with Ctrl + F5 in your browser.

It’s the same when you remove all your custom CSS : refresh with cache clear.

To avoid people complaining about the website when they have a custom CSS, the bug area is blocked when custom CSS is ON. You have to remove it to access this section.

Also, for security reason, the custom CSS is "compiled" by BGA, to remove some attributes or directive.
(For example, you can’t @import a CSS from another server.)
