On occasion the publisher does a bad job of balancing cards and some cards will be too influential towards winning the game. Specifically, Caravan was banned at the 2017 world championship which was organized/run by Lookout Games for this reason.
In terms of the implementation I would suggest changing the "Beginner Mode" option to a "Competitive Level" option, with 3 levels: Beginner Mode, Normal Mode, Normal+Banlist Mode
In addition to Caravan, there should be strong consideration for removing Braggart also, as it leads to wins on its own too often when using a draft setting that starts with 9 or 10 cards. -

There are statistics that support the banning of Braggart, notably playagricola.com/forums/index.php?topic=4875.msg46846#msg46846 (which features it played in a "Draft 7 of 9, occupations first" format)
This PWR statistic is used by publisher and playtesters during card testing, where the goal is to allow none or few cards above the 5.0 threshold (and Braggart is 6.8 with most of its confidence interval above 5)
So far it only excludes Caravan and Braggart.
