Om EUROTA - European Tournament Alliance
Fast Turn-Based Tournament Group for WET, CET and EET timezone-based players.
No tournament is mandatory, only the one you join.
Rather quit and withdraw but don't ruin the tournament for others by timeouts.
The point of EUROTA is to organize tournaments with time zone compatible players. Thus making the whole experience much more enjoyable and smooth. Anybody who played a BGA tournament knows that waiting for a player located 6-8 hours away, results in work/sleep/free time clashes. So, instead having tournaments resolved by timeouts, this group wants to have them resulted by actual game play.
Time zones involved are WET, CET and EET, which places us all within 2h of time distance.
Usual allocated time per game is ranging between 1-3 days for 1-1 settings and 2-5 days for multiplayer settings. The actual allocation depends on how many steps need to be played in the specific game. This is in order to keep the game experience as close to real-time as possible, without tying down the players and causing timeouts because of somebody taking a small breaks. You can walkaround, do other things and still keep in touch with the game.
We are currently playing:
7 Wonders Architects, 7 Wonders Duel, Azul, Carcassonne, Splendor, The Castles of Burgundy, Can't Stop, Stone Age, Ticket to Ride, Saboteur
Games in planning: Catan (TBD), ...
Two types of events:
EUROTA OPEN - Promotion event for anybody
EUROTA EXCLUSIVE - Private tournament for EUROTA members
Two ways how to join - invitation only:
1. Write to stefko007 for an invitation (he will decide based on activity, game discipline, geo and reputation)
2. Get noticed for actively playing in a tournament
Tournament Etiquette:
- Running out of time in a EUROTA tournament game will be monitored and result into actions to ensure smooth gameplay for other players.
- Don't ruin the tournament for other players by running out of time.
- If you join a tournament and can not play it, QUIT the game and WITHDRAW from the tournament - Yes, you will get a karma hit, but don't ruin the tournament for other players and that is valued.
- It's OK to kick players that are out of time. They slow the tournament down for everybody.
