*Smoking guns, sharp hats, dangerous dames, fast talking and high trousers– what’s not to love about Film Noir?
First released as 聖杯サクセション (Throne and Grail), District Noir is a two-player game with risk-taking, bluffing and set collection.
Each round players receives five cards in their hand. On each turn you either play one card from your hand to the end of the line or- once per round- collect the most recently played five cards. Once all of the hand cards have been played, five new cards are dealt to each player and the next round starts. The game ends after four rounds.
Some cards have positive or negative numbers on them, and you score these points directly when you pick them up. Other cards are numbered 5-8, and you score 5-8 points for a value if you have more of those cards than the other player. Additionally, you score 5 points for each set of 5-8 that you have collected. And although normally points decide the winner: if you collect all three of the special cards, each of which are worthless on their own, you win immediately.
As you can read, it is pretty straightforward. But there is more in it than the apparent simplicity.
It is more about forcing your opponent to make bad choices than doing the right thing for yourself.
It as deep, has gorgeous artwork, and is a very original and tricky card game for two. And they are not THAT common these days.

DISTRICT NOIR: Hårdkokt te för två.
Rykande vapen, snitsiga hattar, farliga damer, snabbpratande och högt sittande byxor – vad finns det att inte älska med Film Noir?
District Noir, som först släpptes som聖杯サクセション (Throne and Grail), är ett spel för två spelare med risktagande, bluffande och set-samling.
Varje spelare får fem kort på handen.
På varje tur spelar du antingen ett kort från din hand till slutet av raden eller - en gång per runda - samlar du de senast spelade fem korten.
När alla handkort har spelats så delas fem nya kort ut till varje spelare och nästa omgång börjar.
Partiet avslutas efter fyra omgångar.
Vissa kort har positiva eller negativa siffror på sig, och du får dessa poäng direkt när du plockar upp dem.
Andra kort är numrerade 5-8, och du får 5-8 poäng för ett värde om du har fler av dessa kort än den andra spelaren.
Dessutom får du 5 poäng för varje uppsättning av 5-8 som du har samlat på dig.
Poängen normalt avgör vinnaren, men märk väl: om du samlar ihop alla tre specialkorten, som vart och ett är värdelöst på egen hand, vinner du direkt.
Som du själv kan läsa är det ganska okomplicerat.
Men det ligger mer i det än den skenbara enkelheten.
Det handlar mer om att tvinga sin motståndare att göra dåliga val än att göra rätt för sig själv.
Det är lika djupt, har underbara konstverk och är ett väldigt originellt och knepigt kortspel för två.
Och de är inte SÅ vanliga i dessa dagar.
