Game Overview
As nimble geckos, we compete in a lush garden for the finest bounty of insects. We navigate through a dynamically evolving terrain to form bug chains and occupy specific patterns. By tactically placing garden tiles and skillfully positioning our geckos, we secure valuable prey and fulfill communal and secret objectives.
Goal of the Game
Collect the most victory points by capturing bugs and completing objective cards (bug chains or terrain patterns).
Gameplay
A turn always consists of four fixed steps:
1. Expand the Garden
Choose one of your 3 hand tiles and place it adjacent to the existing garden. Patterns on the edges must match perfectly.
2. Position Geckos
Place one of your 5 geckos on the edge between the tile just played and an adjacent tile. The gecko must bridge two identical terrain patterns. If all of your geckos are already in the garden, you may instead move an existing gecko to the new position.
3. Claim Objectives
Check if you meet the requirements of one of the 6 face-up objective cards (Bug Objectives or Terrain Objectives). You may only claim an objective if you actively contributed to its completion during this turn by placing a tile or moving a gecko.
4. Replenish
Draw a new tile from the stack to refill your hand to 3 tiles.
Special Actions
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Capture Bugs | If a tile is completely surrounded by other tiles, the player with the majority of adjacent geckos receives the corresponding bug meeple. In case of a tie, the active player wins. |
| Adaptation | Once per turn, you may spend a previously captured bug meeple to exchange your entire hand for 3 new tiles. |
Game End & Scoring
The game ends after the current round once a player achieves their 6th objective, a bug supply is exhausted, or the last tile has been drawn.
Scoring is calculated as follows:
- Each completed objective card is worth 1 point.
- Each collected bug meeple is worth 1 point.
- Each bug on the bottom of a completed objective is worth 1 point.
- Additional points are awarded for your fulfilled secret objective (either for specific bug types or the largest continuous terrain pattern).
